HOUSTON -- Two masked robbers assaulted their victims and forced them into car trunks in an Uptown Houston neighborhood overnight, police said.
One of the suspects was captured after a brief chase, but the other one got away on foot, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said it was around 12:10 a.m. Thursday when officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Bering Drive. Police said two masked gunmen approached three people and robbed them. They then struck two of the victims before forcing all three into the trunk of the victims car.
As the robbery occurred, a woman in the same area called 911 to report a similar crime. She said she was also forced into the trunk of her car while being robbed.
Responding officers said they spotted the suspects in one of the victims' cars, and a brief chase ensued.
HPD identified the captured suspect as Travon Anthony Baul, 22. He now has one count of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated robbery pending against him. Police did not provide a description of the suspect who got away.
No serious injuries were reported.
