HOUSTON -- Ridge Point High School senior Cameron Burrell is all about speed.

Just the whole idea of how fast, how far, how high just pushing the human limits, said Burrell. I just think it's awesome.

Cameron s father, current UH track coach Leroy Burrell, twice held the title of World s Fastest Man by recording the fastest time in the 100 meter dash two different times.

Cameron's mother, Michelle Finn, was also an Olympic sprinter, but Cameron says he wasn't pushed into this.

Track and field is definitely a path that I chose, Cameron Burrell said. I played a lot of other sports when I was younger, so I really got a feel for every sport and what every sport offered me. Track and field is just what I like the most and I just decided to pursue it.

This weekend, Burrell will be competing in the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays; plus, he'll try to improve his best 100 meter time of the year. 10.46 is the fastest high school time in the nation.

Burrell clearly seems intent on keeping up the family tradition of pursuing speed on the track.

I just thought, the sky s the limit you know, Cameron Burrell said in response to following in his father s footsteps. It's really good motivation to know that someone so close to you made it to the top of the mountain. I just hope I can take it as far as he did.

Cameron Burrell has committed to compete for the University of Houston in the fall and will be coached by his father, Leroy.
