LA MARQUE A jury was expected today to resume deliberating the fate of a teenage boy charged with capital murder in the death of a woman who was stabbed 28 times.
Jor Dan Jacqueinn Maurice Lewis, 16, pleaded not guilty in the May 29, 2011, slaying of Vaneeda Wright, 84. Wright s daughter and young grandson found her body in her Prune Street home in La Marque.
Prosecutors accused Lewis of killing Wright in the course of a robbery. They showed the jury of eight women and four men crime-scene photographs of Wright s body in a pool of blood on her kitchen floor. A butcher knife, one of three weapons used in the attack, remained embedded in her cheek.
