HOUSTON A Houston man is accused of beating another man with a baseball bat and leaving him in the middle of an east Houston street. A car ran over the injured man lying in the road, killing him, according to Houston police.

Armando Vasquez-Martinez, 56, was charged with manslaughter.

Police said Vasquez-Martinez beat Antonio Salazar with a bat Wednesday around 10 p.m., then left him lying in the middle of Elysian and Harrington. A driver did not see Salazar lying in the road ran over him. Salazar died at the scene.

Martinez initially fled, but police eventually tracked him down.

Martinez s bail was set at $100,000.
