HOUSTON The largest cash reward in Crime Stoppers history is being offered for information in a West Houston murder mystery.

Privatedonations helped raise the rewardto $200,000 for information leading to a suspect in the shooting death of Gelareh Bagherzadeh, 30.

Shewasgunned downoutside her parents' home in the 800 block of Augusta on January 16.

The young medical researcher was a well-known activist against the Iranian government. Detectives say it s possible her activism was the motive for her murder, but it could also have been a random shooting. Bagherzadeh's phone and purse weren't taken so they don't believe robbery was a motive.

Her family is hoping the huge reward will encourage someone to come forward.

Please help us. Come forward if you know anything to solve this case. No need to be afraid of anybody, pleaded Kaveh Bagherzadeh, the victim s brother. Wherever you are, in which country, we can arrange your reward. We can bring you here. Help us.

We need to take these people off the street, said Ali Bagherzadeh, the victim s younger brother. Just do the right thing for the community, for our family, for everybody.

They have few leads in the case and they re hoping the record reward will help encourage tipsters to come forward.

Today is the day to help this family know that the person who committed this offense will be held responsible, said Katherine Cabaniss with Crime Stoppers.

If you know anything about the case, please call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). You can also submit your tip online at crime-stoppers.org or by texting TIP610 to CRIMES (274637).

All tipsters will remain anonymous.
