LONDON – It was sarcastically described as “pure enthusiasm” from a 2012 Olympics worker in London, and now that enthusiasm has racked up more than a million views online.
YouTube user ollygourley uploaded the video on July 27 when the games were first getting underway.
It shows a worker with a megaphone trying to encourage the crowd with a very dry sense of humor, which the uploader described as “genius.”
With a very monotone delivery, the unidentified female worker welcomed visitors to the opening ceremony.
“Welcome to the official Olympic opening ceremony,” she said. “The gates are open – 2012, it will begin – who’s excited?”
One person in the crowd cheered, and a few passerbys chuckled.
“Yes, thank you, single lady,” is all the worker replied with.
