HOUSTON -- Sure, the Astros won Thursday night.  But what really had people talking was what happened Wednesday: Shawn Chacon’s alleged attack on General Manager Ed Wade.

“I mean, it’s just another one of those things where you hear about guys in the clubhouse getting a little heated. I’m sure Mr. Wade was a little frustrated,” Astros fan Taylor Hamilton said.

The GM said Chacon attacked him in the clubhouse cafeteria when he tried to get the pitcher to meet with him and other team managers.

“He moved in front of me until we were chest to chest, and he shoved me to the ground. When I attempted to get to my feet, he shoved me a second time, at which point players and coaches intervened,” Wade said.

Wade said Chacon became upset after learning he would no longer be the team’s starting pitcher.

Chacon told the Houston Chronicle that the GM started yelling and cussing at him.  He also said Wade told him to “(expletive) look in the mirror.”

At that point, Chacon said, he lost his cool, grabbed Wade by the neck and threw him to the ground.

Astros management released Chacon Thursday because of the alleged attack and his attitude toward coaches.

Some Astros fans agreed that he needed to hit the road.

“The fact that he actually put his hand on him and got physical, I don’t think he should be given another chance,” fan Ashley Cantrell said.

But others were willing to forgive and forget.

“Hopefully they can work things out,” Eugenia Rios said.
