Astros trade Jason Lane to San Diego

The Houston Astros announced today that the club has sent outfielder Jason Lane to the San Diego Padres in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. The announcement was made by General Manager Ed Wade.Associated Press

Lane, 30, hit .178 (30x169) with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 68 games for the Astros in 2007. In parts of six Major League seasons from 2002-07, he has hit .241 (291x1,206) with 61 home runs and 189 RBI in 494 career games. Lane hit a career-best 26 home runs and drove in a career-best 78 runs during Houston's National League Championship season of 2005.
The Astros resume play at Great American Ball Park against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT.
