Texans choose Jacoby Jones in the third round
10:23 AM CDT on Sunday, April 29, 2007
The NFL draft went long into the night and for the Texans it was more than an eight hour wait between picks. After taking Amobi Okoye in the first round, they took receiver, kick returner Jocoby Jones in the third round.
Texans choose a receiver/kick returner in the 3rd round
Jones is from a small school, Lane College.
Jones is a track star so he has plenty of speed, but he doesn't have a lot of football experience. He earned a scholarship to Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to Lane.where he lettered in Track, Football and also played Basketball.
Lane is a speedy receiver, but doesn't mind playing on special teams not only as a kick returner but also returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown and had a solo tackle.
The wait was certainly long for the Texans and their fans, this year's first round set a new record for length and the second round went better than three hours as well.
The NFL draft finishes up Sunday with rounds 4-7.
