Yao and T-Mac named to NBA 3rd team
03:11 PM CDT on Thursday, May 8, 2008
Houston Rockets guard/forward Tracy McGrady and center Yao Ming were each named to the 2007-08 All-NBA Third Team, which was announced today by the NBA as part of the All-NBA Teams announcement.
This marks McGrady's third All-NBA Team honor as a member of the Rockets and the fourth All-NBA Team selection for Yao. McGrady and Yao become the first pair of Rockets teammates to be named All-NBA in the same season on two separate occasions (1995 Third Team: Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon; 2007 Second Team: McGrady and Yao).

McGrady (6-8, 223, Mt. Zion Christian Academy) averaged 21.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 66 games (62starts) this season. McGrady actually posted 118 points (29.5 ppg) over a four-game span (3/808-3/14/08) to help him surpass Vernon Maxwell (6,002), Ralph Sampson (5,995) and Kenny Smith (5,910) into 13th on Houston's all-time points scored list.
Twice named Western Conference Player of the Week (Oct. 30-Nov. 4 and Mar. 3-9), McGrady was also honored with the NBA Community Assist Award for Jan. 2008. McGrady posted 17 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds vs. Memphis (12/5/07), which marked his third career triple-double and his first with the Rockets.
During the playoffs, McGrady averaged 27.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists in six games against the Jazz. McGrady recorded a series-high 40 points (13-26 FG) and 10 rebounds in Game Six at Utah (5/2/08), marking his fourth career 40-point playoff game and his first with Houston.

Prior to his injury, Yao stood as one of only two players in the NBA to average at least 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.00 blocks.
Voted to his sixth consecutive All-Star Game this season, Yao registered eight 30-point outings and posted 33 double-doubles. Yao was also named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Nov. 5-11 and earned Western Conference Player of the Month presented by Kia for Jan. 2008. He surpassed Moses Malone (758 blocks in 464 games) into second in Rockets history for blocked shots with his third block (759 blocks in 400 games) vs. Sacramento (2/13/08). This season, Yao also moved past Cuttino Mobley (7,448) and Steve Francis (7,281) into ninth on Houston's all-time points scored list.
