Texans set NFL record for most players used in one season

Four more Houston Texans made their 2017 season debuts in the Christmas Day massacre at the hands of the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.

Quarterback Taylor Heinicke, offensive lineman David Quessenberry, tight end Ryan Malleck and defensive tackle Chunky Clements all saw their first action. When Malleck took his first snap, the Texans set the record for the most players used in an NFL season.

A full 77 different players have suited up and taken to at least one snap during 2017. The previous record was 75, held by the 2012 New York Jets.

The Texans can expand the record in Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts. With Heinicke suffering a concussion against Pittsburgh, the Texans could be in the market for yet another backup quarterback.
