ARLINGTON, Texas – After three preseason games in which the rushing attack struggled, the Houston Texans finally developed some rhythm on the ground against the Dallas Cowboys.
With a combo attack of Kenny Hilliard and Akeem Hunt, the Texans racked up 90 yards on 23 carries in the first half and scored a touchdown.
Because of injuries and rotating line-ups, one of the issues has been maintain consistent communication along the offensive line. Head coach Bill O’Brien expressed concern heading into the preseason finale and stressed that the running game had to show signs of improvement.
Hilliard and Hunt were able to find various running lanes: Hunt with a long run of 16 and Hilliard with one of 11 yards.
Starting running back Lamar Miller did not play. On the offensive line, projected starting center Greg Mancz and tackle Chris Clark also sat out the preseason finale
