Texans rookies, Academy treat kids to shopping spree

The Texans put some big smiles on some kids who were treated to a shopping spree for the holidays.

HOUSTON - The Houston Texans put big smiles on the faces of some lucky kids.

Academy teamed up with Texans rookies to give 14 kids from the Houston YMCA Boys & Girls Club a shopping spree.

Each child received $200 and walked with the players to pick out clothes, shoes and some toys.

“I’ve been young before. I’ve wanted toys on Christmas and didn’t get everything I wanted, so it’s just kind of one of those things,” said rookie linebacker Dylan Cole. “You want to give back and see the smiles on kids’ faces just like when you were a little kid.”

The kids were also surprised with a bike and helmet for each one.
