Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan is getting buzz as a potential rising star in the coaching ranks.
Ryan is interviewing with the Cleveland Browns for that team’s open offensive coordinator position. The Texans granted the 45-year-old permission to talk with the Browns.
One of Ryan’s pupils, Tom Savage, chimed in with a ringing endorsement.
One of the best in the business. https://t.co/dcSb0ja37F— Tom Savage (@TomSavage03) January 2, 2018
So did legendary Dallas Cowboys personnel executive and longtime NFL insider Gil Brandt.
If you're a team looking for the next Sean McVay, you might want to keep a close eye on Sean Ryan. Everyone I talk to keeps bringing up the name of the Texans QB coach.— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) January 3, 2018
Ryan has been with the Texans for two seasons, first as wide receivers coach before moving to work with QBs last year. Prior to that, he also coached both position groups with the New York Giants. Ryan is given some credit for molding players like Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. into impact receivers, as well as guiding Eli Manning to two Pro Bowl seasons.
