A pair of impressive Texans saw their sophomore seasons in Houston end with injuries.
Center Nick Martin and nose tackle D.J. Reader both suffered season-ending maladies in Sunday’s 45-7 loss in Jacksonville. They were placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Martin was the team’s top offensive lineman, and he will be missed. The second-round pick from Notre Dame in 2016 also missed his entire rookie season with an injury.
Reader thrived in Vince Wilfork’s role as the space-eating run stopper on the defensive interior. He was the team’s fifth-round pick in 2016. Reader finished with 48 total tackles and a sack in his second season.
Quarterback Tom Savage was not placed on injured reserve yet, contrary to some internet reports.
