There was a theme to this year's draft for the Houston Texans, and that is speed.

The Texans traded up one slot to the 21st overall pick to draft Notre Dame wide receiver Will Fuller in the first round, then moved up two spots to draft another Fighting Irish, center Nick Martin, at No. 50 in the second round.

The Texans added wide receiver Braxton Miller from Ohio State in the third round. In the fourth round, they nabbed San Jose State running back Tyler Ervin.

In the fifth round, the Texans selected safety K.J. Dillon out of West Virginia and defensive tackle D.J. Reader out of Clemson.

To recap, Houston had six picks in the draft:

*The Texans traded up from the 22nd pick

**Texans trade up from the 52nd pick

Day 2 Recap

The Houston Texans stayed offensive in the second and third rounds on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.

Houston nabbed Notre Dame center Nick Martin with the 50th overall pick, trading up two spots with the Atlanta Falcons to grab him. Martin will help protect the Texans newly acquired investment in quarterback Brock Osweiler.

"We really feel that Nick Martin is an excellent addition to the football team," said Texans GM Rick Smith.

With the 85th overall pick in the third round, Houston selected wide receiver Braxton Miller from Ohio State University. Miller was once the quarterback at OSU, but because of injury and talent at the position, he moved to wide receiver last season, where he grabbed 25 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns.

"It hasn't really hit me yet," Miller said after the pick. "I'm really blessed and thankful to be in this spot."

6:30 p.m.

Hey, Matt Musil, who do you think the Texans should take with their first-round pick?

If they go wide receiver, I'd go with Corey Coleman out of Baylor. If they don't go wide receiver, I think they should go defensive line; that's a need position. If you want to go there, there are two defensive tackles from Alabama.

But if you really want to go outside the box, I say go take a center.

Alabama center Ryan Kelly

He's a massive center. You want to protect Brock Osweiler? Get yourself a center. That's a great pick.

A quick Draft Q&A with KHOU 11 Sports Anchor Pablo Alsina:

What positions do the Texans need to fill the most?

Need help on offensive lane and at safety. But with their first-round pick, expect the Texans to look for the best wide receiver. There’s a couple I really like, and they both play college football in Texas:

Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman

This guy is fast, he’s big, a little under six feet tall—I would like a taller receiver—but he’s got great hands and he is a speedster.

But who I like even more:

TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson

He’s 6-feet 2-inches, great hands, he is a highlight reel waiting to happen. It would be nice to have DeAndre Hopkins on one side and Josh Doctson on the other side.

Do you think the Texans will make a move in the first round?

Well the Texans have never traded up in the Draft, so that would be something special. I think doubt that will happen. But maybe they’ll trade down if these two receivers are there or another receiver they like isn’t there.

Usually they stay put and they’ll pick at 22.
