David Quessenberry activated from practice squad

Texans offensive lineman David Quessenberry, a cancer survivor, was promoted from the practice squad and could play in his first regular season game since his diagnosis on Christmas Eve.

A dismal December for the Houston Texans just got a much-needed feel-good boost.

Offensive lineman David Quesenberry has been promoted to the active 53-man roster from the team’s practice squad.

Quessenberry has never played in a regular-season NFL game despite being a sixth-round pick back in 2013. He missed his rookie season with a broken foot, then undertook a battle with lymphoma.

The San Jose State big man conquered his cancer and got back on the field over the summer, but needed more strength and time to shake off the years of rust.

That time is now for the versatile Quessenberry, who can play any spot except left tackle but is optimally a left guard.
