HOUSTON -- Andre Johnson notified his teammates Monday morning that he intends to retire from the NFL, multiple sources reported.
Johnson's apparent decision comes after he's caught just nine passes through eight games for the Titans this season, CBS Sports reports.
At 35 years old, Johnson is nowhere near the peak of his powers, which saw him reel off seven seasons with at least 1,110 yards through his first 11 years in the league. Johnson also posted five 100-catch seasons during that span, which coincided with seven Pro Bowl selections.
The third overall pick in 2003, Johnson ends his career with a Hall of Fame resume, but his absence from the Titans going forward is unlikely to impact their offense much.
