TORONTO (AP) — Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie and manager John Gibbons were ejected after the third inning of Friday's game against Baltimore.

Lawrie flipped his bat and tossed his helmet and gloves on the ground after being called out on strikes to end the third, and was ejected by home plate umpire Dan Bellino. Gibbons was ejected by Bellino after he came out to argue.

All three Blue Jays outs in the third were strikeouts, two of them called. Jose Bautista also reacted after being called out on strikes to start the inning.

Mark DeRosa replaced Lawrie, whose ejection was his first this season. For Gibbons, it was the third time this year he's been ejected.

An angry Lawrie was seen yelling at Bellino from the top of the dugout steps before walking down the tunnel to the clubhouse. Last year, Lawrie was suspended four games after throwing his helmet following a called third strike and having it bounce up and strike umpire Bill Miller on the leg.
