Norway's Flatland wins biathlon World Cup event

OBERHOF, Germany (AP) — Ann Kristin Aafedt Flatland of Norway captured her first biathlon World Cup by edging two Germans on their home soil in the 7x5-kilometer sprint race on Saturday.

Flatland had one miss in windy conditions and had to complete one penalty lap but used a powerful finish to head off double Olympic gold medalist Magdalena Neuner by 5.7 seconds.

Andrea Henkel was third, 15.2 seconds behind the winner.

Kaisa Maekaeraeinen of Finland finished fifth behind Darya Domracheva of Belarus to remain ahead in World Cup standings.
