OXNARD, — Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has finally talked to wide receiver Dez Bryant more than two weeks after Bryant's arrest on family violence charges.
"We've had a great visit," said Jones, without giving away his feeling about how Bryant's situation will be resolved. "I don't have a feeling one way or another, but we have talked and we talked extensively."
Jones also came up with a better excuse for waiting so long. Before he said he didn't know why he was waiting. Today he put a fatherly spin on his hesitancy, "You know as a Daddy sometimes you're not supposed to spank when you're mad, said Jones. "I wanted to get my information. I also wanted to get my mind right so we could have a good talk about this." On Jones radio show, he said he was too mad to talk to Bryant.
Bryant talked to our Channel 8 cameras today, but only commented on how great the fans and weather are. Bryant adding, "I'm keeping it short and simple."
There's is nothing simple about how to handle his situation though. He's created enough headaches for Jones to not even want to address this latest issue before having a cooling off period.
Criminal charges are still pending and the NFL, while seemingly in a wait and see mode, could choose to act as well.
Its just the latest chapter in the Bryant drama, and there's plenty of that.
