SAN ANTONIO—Cowboys coach Jason Garrett likes the confidence of Rob Ryan, even though Dallas’ new defensive coordinator sometimes has a way of showing it that can run counter to the message to players.
One of the first things Garrett said when camp opened a week ago was that it was time for players to stop talking and get to work.
On Wednesday, Garrett was being asked about comments Ryan made Monday that seemed directed at NFC East rival Philadelphia.
Ryan said that he didn’t know if Dallas would win the “all-hype team” like some other team. While he didn’t mention a specific franchise, he added that the Cowboys would whip them when they played.
Garrett says he wants his coaches to be who they are.
