On Friday morning Cowboys great Deion Sanders will really go on the defense. He will ask a Collin County judge to grant a protective order against his estranged wife, Pilar Sanders.
A hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. in 366th District Court.
Sanders is seeking the protective order after he and Pilar were both arrested for misdemeanor assault on Monday.
Police said the couple had a fight at their Prosper home. During that alleged fight, Deion told police that Pilar came into his bedroom and attacked him. Pilar was taken into custody, spent a night in jail and was released on a $260 bond.
Pilar and her attorney have asked for a neutral law enforcement agency to investigate the case. She claims the same McKinney law firm that represents Deion also represents the city of Prosper and the police department. Her attorney said there is no way the police department can do a fair job of investigating the case. The city disagrees.
