HOUSTON - The Houston Texans 2013 preseason schedule features a nationally-televised game vs. New Orleans on Aug. 25. It will mark the fifth consecutive year the Texans have had a nationally-televised preseason game.
The remainder of Houston’s preseason schedule includes a home contest against the Miami Dolphins (Preseason Week 2) and road matchups against the Minnesota Vikings (Preseason Week 1) and the Dallas Cowboys (Preseason Week 4).
The Texans will take on the Vikings in the preseason for the third consecutive year and fourth time in five years.
Houston will then host the Dolphins for their preseason home opener. It will be the first preseason matchup between the two teams since they faced off on Aug 24, 2002 in the first-ever game played at Reliant Stadium. The Dolphins won that matchup 24-3, but the Texans have won all seven regular season matchups since.
Houston and New Orleans will meet for the sixth straight year and seventh time ever in the preseason. The Texans and Saints have split their preseason matchups, with the Saints winning last year’s preseason matchup 34-27 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Texans close the preseason by taking on their in-state rival Dallas at Cowboys Stadium. The two Texas teams have split their six previous preseason contests, with the home team coming away victorious each time.
The two squads last matched up in the preseason in 2010, when Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was the head coach of the Cowboys. Houston won that contest 23-7 in a primetime matchup.
