HOUSTON – Houston has been ready to see their Texans since the day they lost to the New England Patriots back in January.
Tuesday was their first chance to do that, up close and personal.
A record crowd came out to the Methodist Training Center at Reliant Park to watch the Texans go through Day 5 of their 2013 Training Camp. The team announced that 5,219 fans attended the open practice.
“It helps us because we’re in the dog days of summer right now,” said Texans head coach Gary Kubiak. “Having everybody out here kind of gets the juices going a little bit, gets everybody moving around. I appreciate them coming out.”
The players felt the same way.
“You know, we try to work hard every day but that energy definitely helps, we’ve got some more fans, some more spectators obviously (than previous days),” said Texans tight end Owen Daniels. “You get more oh’s and ah’s when you make plays but then also if you don’t make a play people see that too, definitely a little more pressure.”
The Texans expect big crowds throughout Training Camp. The team has 6 open practice dates left on the schedule.
