HOUSTON -- Former Texans coach Gary Kubiak bought a full page ad in Sunday’s edition of the Houston Chronicle to say thank you to the city and the fans.
According to the Chronicle, the ad appeared in Page C3 of the sports section.
It read: “I want to thank the players, coaches, and staff for their tireless work and commitment. And especially to the fans, you are the best in the NFL. It was an honor to return to my hometown to work my dream job. My family and I think you for eight great years. – Gary and Rhonda Kubiak.”
At a press conference on Friday morning, Texans owner Bob McNair announced Kubiak was no longer with the team.
Kubiak’s firing came after the team lost its 11th consecutive game of the season Thursday night, 27-20, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
McNair said that he decided it was time for a change. The Texans are 2-11 after beginning the season as a favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
