HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets have signed point guard Earl Boykins to a second 10-day contract with Kyle Lowry’s status still uncertain.
The Rockets initially signed the 5-foot-5 Boykins on March 26. He’s averaged 6.4 points and three assists in five games for the Rockets, who currently hold the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference.
Lowry, the starter for 38 games, has been out since early March with a bacterial infection. Goran Dragic has started in Lowry’s place, and Boykins has averaged 16 minutes in the backup role.
The Rockets play the Lakers in Los Angeles on Friday night.
