Rockets’ Sampson to interview for NBA coaching vacancies

HOUSTON – Houston Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson is scheduled to interview for several NBA head coaching vacancies around the NBA.

Reports indicate Sampson will meet with the Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers in the next few weeks.

On Tuesday, Rockets head coach Kevin McHale showed support for Sampson.

"I hope Kelvin gets the job," said McHale. "Kelvin’s goal is to be a head coach and as much as I would miss him because I rely on Kelvin a lot. Great guy, good friend, great coach."

Guard James Harden also through support Sampson’s way.

"A great opportunity for him. He is one of the guys that I have worked with a lot this season, helping me get through the year," says Harden. "I’m happy for him if he does get that job. Great mentor, great coach for sure."

Sampson came to Houston in 2011. Sampson was an assistant with the Bucks from 2008-2011.
