New York Mets pitcher-coach Warren Spahn, left, chats with his youthful opponent, Larry Dierker, right, in Houston at night on June 25, 1965 before the first game of a four game series between the New York Mets and the Houston Astros. Spahn and Dierker will be the starting pitchers for nights game. Spahn, who is 44-years old, was pitching his first full year of major league baseball before Dierker was born. Spahn had pitched four games in the majors in 1942, but then went into the service. His first full year of major league pitching came in 1946 with Dierker being born in September of the same year.
