Astros host Rangers on March 31 to open 2013 MLB season

The Houston Astros lost their season opener against the Colorado Rockies 5-3 Friday night. The game was tied 3-3 in the eighth, but four errors would cost the Astros. Highlights included back-to-back homers by Carlos Lee and Brian Bogusevic in the fourth inning and a solid outing by pitcher Wandy Rodriguez.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros will open the 2013 Major League Baseball season by facing their in-state and new American League West Division rivals, the Texas Rangers.

The game, on Sunday, March 31, will mark the Astros’ official entrance into the American League.

The Astros will host the Rangers at Minute Maid Park at 7:00 p.m. CT.

The Astros-Rangers game will mark the first time Astros and Rangers will face each other to start a season. With the Astros moving to the American League, each league now has 15 Clubs, and each of Major League Baseball’s six divisions are comprised of five Clubs for the first time.

This Astros-Rangers game was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 4.
