HOUSTON—Friday was not only opening day for the Astros, it was also the 50th anniversary for the team and their fans, who turned out to kick off the season.

"I’m excited, after last year, you know, you can only go up I hope," said Wayne Webb, who traveled from North Texas to see the game.

Fans got a chance to cut loose and enjoy the weather before tonight’s home opener.

There are plenty of of changes at Minute Maid Park, fans can now bring in plastic bottled water and even food in a ziploc bags.

"It’s actually a very good idea, because my daughter really doesn’t eat anything in there. So I can bring her something she likes I like that idea," Esmeralda Alvarez said.

They’re familiar with those new rules, but are they familiar with all of the new players?

"On the current roster? Well, Wandy Rodriguez, uh...that’s probably about it right now. Oh, Carlos Lee," Webb added.

"Oh no! I’m not even going to lie to you, no. I know all the old players, all the good players Biggio, Bagwell, all of them. But, I couldn’t tell you the names this year," Alvarez said.

Well, they will have time to learn the players names when the Astros face the Rockies Friday night.
