COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Deshorn Brown scored in the 36th minute to lead the surging Colorado Rapids past the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 Saturday night.

Edson Buddle added a goal for the Rapids, who extended their unbeaten streak to nine games. They are 5-0-4 since an 0-3-1 stretch.

Colorado (10-7-9) moved ahead of the Whitecaps for sole possession of second place in the Western Conference.

Vancouver (10-8-6) applied little pressure, but allowed the Rapids few scoring chances.

The Whitecaps are 1-3-1 in their last five games.
