High School Sports site launches on KHOU.com, USA TODAY

HOUSTON - Texas high school football is back and we're in the game with a brand new High School Sports website. KHOU 11 Sports has teamed up with USA TODAY to put the spotlight on Houston-area teams. High School Sports offers all high schools a chance to be recognized here in Texas and across the nation.

Houston High School team pages are now live and you can find school pages by searching on KHOU.com or on USA TODAY. We have already posted schedules and other features. Now we're looking for photos, videos and content from you to build out each school's page.

One way you send content to us for your school page is YourTake. We're looking for everything from sports including football, volleyball, cross country, track and field, baseball, basketball -- to mascots, cheerleaders, marching bands and more!

YourTake makes it easy for anyone to upload and send photos or videos from the desktop or mobile device. KHOU 11 is notified and approves all content before it appears on the site.

Massey Score Predictor

One popular features on the High School Sports site is the Massey Score Predictor. This online interactive game simulator allows fans to select any two varsity teams in the country and play them against each other to find the predicted score. Results are based on computer calculations that use current season stats from USA TODAY HS Sports Massey Ratings. Ken Massey created this score algorithm for BCS voting.

Content Partners

KHOU.com has made it easy to get content to HS Sports pages through our content partners, including the following free mobile apps which anyone can install on their mobile device:

  • High School Cube LIVE video app
  • Scorestream app
  • Digital Scout app
  • Scoopshot app

The HS Cube mobile app integrates LIVE video to flow into school team pages. Watch, share and broadcast high school events LIVE in HD and it's all free.

With the Scorestream app, information flows into High School Sports pages including real-time stats posted during the game. Each week, approximately 5,000 schools use this app to post stats for their sports teams. Digital Scout is another stats and score app used most frequently by coaches.

Scoopshot allows users to upload photos and videos from team events to send to your school pages.

Each week, USA TODAY Sports will post the Super 25 rankings. This year, USA TODAY is adding a Super 10 version for each local market, including Houston. Rankings are based on the input of scores, strength of schedule and Ken Massey's algorithm. These rankings cover football, boys and girls basketball, baseball and boys and girls lacrosse.

High School Sports is year-round coverage for KHOU 11 and will include volleyball, cross country, track & field, wrestling, baseball, basketball and more. All high schools and the local community are invited to rally behind their school pages during football season and beyond.

We are building a social community featuring content from all high schools, to be showcased on this platform, locally and nationally. HS Sports will help showcase athletes and sports programs.

Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio are now live and six more stations in Texas are being added. The HS Sports program is now live in over 100 local markets nationwide and we'll be making it bigger and better in Texas.
