SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Freeport Brazosport survived a furious second-half comeback to defeat Midlothian Heritage 73-64 in Class 4A semifinals.
Brazosport (33-3) raced to a 44-19 halftime lead in San Antonio. Heritage (32-6) chipped away, cutting the margin to eight with 2:50 left but was unable to get any closer.
Brazosport point guard Chris Rossow led the offense with 17 points, Jalen Johnson added 16 and Hunter Quick had 12 plus 18 rebounds.
Brazosport limited Midlothian Heritage to 5-of-25 shooting from the field in the first half while putting up 39 shots of their own, connecting on 19 to build the big lead. The Exporters scored eight fast-break points and 10 points off turnovers in the first half.
Jackson McLaughlin scored 24 points for Heritage while Steven Wallace had 14 and 10 rebounds.
