HOUSTON - It has been a long time coming for the Elsik Rams soccer team.

After several years of stellar regular seasons, but disappointing playoff results, head coach Vincenzo Cox and the 21-2-3 Rams have broken through and have reached the state semifinals.

Elsik will face Brownsville Hanna (25-1-3) on Friday.

The Rams have been ranked near or at the top of the state and national rankings and they feature a team full of international flavor with players whose families come as far away as Nigeria to as close as Mexico.

Somehow they’ve put it all together. But for them, winning a title is more than just a trophy. It’s about pride, especially coming from Elsik High School.

KHOU 11 Sports reporter Daniel Gotera talked with Rams.
