The Houston Dynamo became the fourth MLS team to reach the 40-point mark on Saturday, earning a 1-1 road tie with Toronto FC. The Dynamo lead second-place Chivas USA by seven points in the Western Conference, with Chivas USA set to face the Kansas City Wizards later tonight.

Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad became the third player in the team’s three-year history to make his 100th start for the club in all competitions, and he made four saves in the match.

The Dynamo took the lead in the 23rd minute on an own goal by Toronto’s Hunter Freeman after Brad Davis’ header into the box. Toronto FC tied the game in the 73rd minute when right-footed defender Marvell Wynne floated a left-footed shot over Onstad from 25 yards away, the first MLS goal of Wynne’s career.

Toronto goalkeeper Greg Sutton made two crucial saves in the second half to deny Brad Davis on a long-range shot in the 77th minute and Brian Ching from inside the box in the 82nd minute.

Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell received his sixth yellow card of the season and will be suspended for next Saturday’s game against the Colorado Rapids.

Defender Richard Mulrooney, in his 10th season in MLS, made his 230th career start in league play, most of any Dynamo player.

Quotes:

HOUSTON MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO

Asked if the team was tired coming from Panama….

“I think we were definitely fatigued, we can’t put too much into it because we leave on Monday to go to Mexico and then we leave again to go to Colorado. You know our schedule is definitely hectic, thankfully we have a coach who has played at the highest level, he knows how important rest is for us as players, and he knows when to give guys time off, spot duty. So some guys will be playing and some will be taking a rest, the main thing for us right now is to clinch a playoff spot and focus on that.”

HOUSTON COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

 Thoughts on game…

“We’re trying to win, you can see with the lineups we’re putting out. We’re trying to put a fresh team out there, or as fresh as possible every game. So, traveling and games definitely make you tired, but the guys have been good, we’ve had two tough games obviously this is a tough environment to play in – we did some very good things, we’re unbeaten we’re not winning games, but we’re not losing games we’re very competitive so I’m pleased with that.”

HOUSTON GOALKEEPER PAT ONSTAD

Thoughts on game…

“I thought we had our chances we played pretty good soccer but I think the biggest problem you know in the end I think is started camping a little bit too deep and caused our own problems for myself to the back four, and that’s part of my job to keep us out maybe I could of come for a few more crosses. But I think the draw is probably a fair result in terms of the chances, but overall to come here I think it’s a difficult place to play and we’re not very good on field turf so I think we’re pretty happy overall.”
