Vols won't have Reeves-Maybin for A&M game

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin will miss the ninth-ranked Volunteers' game Saturday at Texas A&M as he continues dealing with a shoulder injury.

Vols coach Butch Jones said Wednesday that Reeves-Maybin wouldn't play against the eighth-ranked Aggies. Jones says: "We continue to try to gather information for him and further evaluation to see what's in his best interest, short-term (and) long-term."

The shoulder injury caused Reeves-Maybin to miss the entirety of a 34-31 victory at Georgia last week. He also sat out the majority of the Vols' victories over Ohio and Florida.

Jones said the status of linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. and running back Jalen Hurd is day to day. Kirkland has missed three games with a high ankle sprain. Jones says Hurd has a lower extremity injury.
