Talented guard T.J. Starks signs with Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – T.J. Starks, a touted 6-foot-2 guard from Lancaster High School, has become the latest addition to the Texas A&M men's basketball team's highly-ranked 2017 recruiting class.

“T.J. is another in a long line of tough Dallas guards to join our program,” Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. “He’s a very physical player who can play at the point or off the ball and call really score by getting into the paint or from the 3-point line. He also has a chance to be a great defensive player because of his toughness and athleticism.”

Described as an attacking, offensive-minded point guard, Starks is regarded as a four-star prospect by 247 Sports, Rivals and Scout with Scout regarding him as the top point guard prospect in the state of Texas.

Last season, Starks helped guide Lancaster High School to its second consecutive UIL 5A State Championship, scoring 20 points during the title-clinching victory over Fort Bend Elkins. For his entire junior season, Starks averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game for the Tigers.

In AAU competition, Starks starred for the Urban DFW Elite squad were he averaged 14.7 points per contest.

After drawing attention from many schools on the recruiting trail, Starks signed with Texas A&M over Oklahoma among other schools.
