KHOU College Preview: Texas Tech Red Raiders

The next team up on our KHOU college preview is Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders are coming off a season which saw them arguably exceed expectations as they went 8-5, winning the Holiday Bowl.

It is now year two under head coach Kilff Kingsbury who is feeling very good about where is alma mater under his leader ship is heading.

Kingsbury has injected new life into the Texas Tech program and as opposed to last year, he is very certain who his starting quarterback will be.

Sophomore Davis Webb returns to lead the Red Raiders. During his freshman season he threw for 2,718 yards and 20 scores and saw the typical ups and downs of a first year QB. His maturation during the off-season is what has everyone in Lubbock excited.

The offense as a whole returns 7 starters, and will have to replace big time players like TE Jace Amarro and WR Eric Ward. Running back Kenny Williams moves to linebacker so it will be DeAndre Washington and a host of others that will try and fill the void left by the team's leading rusher the past two seasons.

Up front, Tech should be solid. Three juniors and a senior anchor the offensive line that will surely give Webb plenty of time to do damage.

Defensively, Texas Tech only has 4 guys coming back for a unit that was very surprising especially during the first 7 games of the season. They will have a new secondary and they will be young as the depth chart features 4 sophomores.
