KHOU College Preview: Baylor Bears

There hasn't been a better time to be a Baylor Bear.

After winning the Big 12 in 2013, the Bears will now be the ones with the target on their back. But they have a new home and that explosive offense will once again be hard to stop.

After years of playing at Floyd Casey Stadium, the Bears will open up their new digs along the Brazos River. McLane Stadium is absolutely beautiful which coincidentally is also a very apropos description for the Baylor offense.

The leader will once again be Bryce Petty.

The Heisman candidate will once again try and help replicate the video game numbers he put up last season. As a whole, the offense led the nation in yards per game with 618 and points per game at 52. Petty threw for 42-hundred yards and 32 touchdowns.

As with most big time programs, the Bears did lose a lot of talent to the NFL, but they are once again stacked around Petty.

Sophomore Shock Linwood will try and replace the highly productive Lache Seastrunk and at wide receiver, the Bears will once again be stellar. Antwan Goodley and Levi Norwood are back after combining for over 2000 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2013.

The offensive line needs to replace All-American Cyril Richardson and is projected to feature only one senior in Troy Baker.

Baylor's defense returns only 3 starters from last year's much improved side. All-Big 12 linebacker Bryce Hager is back at middle linebacker and he will anchor the front 7 which is pretty deep.

The secondary is the biggest question mark. The Bears lost 4 big time players, including All-American Ahmad Dixon so the learning curve could be steep for the young guys trying to fill the void.

Baylor opens up conference play at Iowa State on September 27th, but their first test will be the next week at Texas.

They travel to Oklahoma in November and you know the Sooners are looking for a little revenge.
