HOUSTON – The University of Houston broke ground on a brand new state-of-the-art football stadium Friday morning near Cullen Boulevard and Cougar Place.

The $105 million stadium will have 40,000 seats, which can be expanded to $60,000, in the future. It will have a special synthetic turf, so the stadium can be used for all kinds of events.

The stadium will also feature a 12,400-square foot club overlooking the field of play.

There will be 26 suites on the stadium’s south side one level above the club. They will have 12 outside seats, four inside bar stools and an entertainment area with a hi-definition television.

Thirty-four loge boxes with four padded seats and a hi-definition monitor will be located on the concourse level.

The stadium is set to open in August of next year.
