UH QB Case Keenum named Maxwell Award Semifinalist

HOUSTON – The University Of Houston has announced that junior quarterback Case Keenum is a semifinalist for the 73rd Maxwell Award.
 
Each year the Maxwell Football Club presents the Maxwell Award for the College Player of the Year. This award is presented in honor of Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell, legendary college player, official and sports columnist. Voters for the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club & sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country

Keenum leads the NCAA in points responsible for (21.5), passing yards per game (411.6) and total offense (420.9). In addition to Keenum’s statistical prowess, he has also been awarded the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week four times this season (seven times in his career). Keenum is also a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award.
 
Tim Tebow won the two previous Maxwell Award in 2007 and 2008.
 
The Best Damn Poll in the Land
Keenum was also honored for his performances against Southern Miss by being selected as TheBestDamnPoll.com’s Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Approximately 100 voters from across the country selected Keenum after his career day. Keenum was 44-of-54 for 559 yards and five touchdowns in the victory against Southern Miss.
