Astros bolster pitching staff with Williams
04:06 PM CST on Friday, November 24, 2006
The Astros not only bolstered their lineup with slugger Carlos Lee, the added a quality veteran pitcher in Woody Williams.
It's a home coming for Williams who played high school ball at Cy-Fair, pitched at the University of Houston, and earned an Associates Degree at Alvin Community College.
The righthander is 124-100 for his career coming off a 12-5 record last season.
If both Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte return to the club, the Astros would have four front line starters as Williams will fit nicely as a 4th starter behind Roy Oswalt.
