As wedding nears, Dale Earnhardt Jr. detail driven

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – With a wedding date rapidly approaching in the NASCAR offseason, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is trying to keep stress off fiancée Amy Reimann, who is doing most of the planning.

But he admitted the details can be a little tedious at times.

“Picking flowers and all that, I don’t need to be into all that,” he said Wednesday. “I went to those meetings anyway, just to be supportive. But it’s pretty boring.”

Earnhardt said the wedding anxiety is increasing as the date gets closer – not because of the actual getting married part, but just “making sure the day is going to be perfect.”

“We’re definitely not being lazy and pushing everything off until the last minute,” he said. “It feels like it’s right around the corner. We just want it to be a great day. I think that’s the same thing everybody feels: They want everything to go right and not have any mistakes or anything go wrong.”

The driver, who is sidelined for the rest of the NASCAR season with a concussion, celebrated his 42nd birthday earlier this week. He said he kept it low-key and told Reimann not to plan anything, so the couple stayed in and did fast food for lunch and pizza for dinner.
