HOUSTON -- Thousands of runners will take to the streets this weekend as part of the 2013 Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon and the ABB 5K.

The marathon and half marathon are set for Sunday, January 13 at 7:00 a.m. The ABB 5K will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 8:00 a.m.

Registration for both the marathon and half marathon has closed.

If you’d like to participate in the 5K, there’s still time. Online registration has closed, but you can still register at the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute the at Memorial Hermann Expo on Friday, January 11 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Last year, more than 28,000 runners took part in the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon and El Paso Corporation 5K.

Ethiopian runners swept the full and half marathons in record times. Tariku Jufar won the men’s full marathon in 2:06:51, eclipsing the previous best time of 2:07.04 set in 2011 by Ethiopia’s Bekana Daba. Alemitu Abera won the women’s race in 2:23.14. The previous record was 2:23.53, set by Ethiopia’s Teyba Erkesso in 2010.
