HOUSTON – The equipment department for the Houston Texans has been working long hours to get everything ready for the team just before the start of training camp, which began Friday morning.

The team allowed KHOU 11 Sports inside their facilities for a peek to see what all goes into their preparation.

The staff was shining each player’s helmet by hand. That’s 90 helmets altogether. They also have to put decals on each and make sure those linemen’s chin straps are tight. It’s tedious job that takes hours.

Preparing the 90 helmets does not compare to getting the players’ cleats ready. The staff has to sort, stack and deliver some 350 to 400 cleats.

The team also has brand new practice jerseys for camp. It’s a new year, but the goal is the same: To win a championship.
