HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have signed first overall draft pick outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Clowney is the ninth player to sign in the Texans’ 2014 10-player draft class. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Clowney (6-5, 266) was a two-time All-America selection at South Carolina who set school records in 2012 with 13 sacks and 23 tackles for loss on the way to earning the Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end.

The two-time first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection and 2012 SEC Defensive Player of the Year totaled 130 tackles, 24 sacks, 47 tackles for loss and a school-record nine forced fumbles in his three seasons at South Carolina.

As a freshman in 2011, Clowney earned second-team All-SEC recognition and was named the SEC Freshman of the Year by the conference’s coaches.
