HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have re-signed inside linebacker Tim Dobbins. Dobbins’ agent, David Canter, announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday.

"Congratulations to #TeamDEC client Tim Dobbins on agreeing to terms on a new one year contract with @HoustonTexans #bullsonparade," said Canter.

Dobbins, who joined the Texans in 2011, became a key member of the defense after Brian Cushing went down with an injury. He played in 14 games, started 6 and recorded 43 combined tackles and 1 interception.

The 8th year man out of Iowa State was the team’s special teams captain in 2012. He missed the last part of the season due to an ankle injury.

Dobbins will provide much needed depth to a unit that was decimated by injuries in 2012. Brian Cushing is expected to return for the 2013 season.
