HOUSTON – Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing spent the night in the hospital with a virus the team describes as "minor."
Cushing became ill Tuesday night and Coach Gary Kubiak said they decided to put him in the hospital, instead of sending him home.
"Cush is sick, that’s why he’s not out here," Kubiak said. "He’s got a little virus. Got sick on us last night and spent the night in the hospital. It was really a matter of not sending him home. His wife, he can go home and get her sick, and it was late at night when he had got sick on us, so we just gave him a room down the street and had him get a good night’s rest and get him started toward his recovery."
Kubiak said he’s not worried about Cushing and he could be back with the team by Wednesday afternoon.
Cushing was the 2011 MVP and played a key role in getting the Texans to the playoffs for the first time in team history.
