HOUSTON – In an interview with Yahoo! Sports Radio 1560, Houston Texans safety Danieal Manning said the team held a players only meeting on Monday.
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that running back Arian Foster was the one who called for it.
During the radio interview, Manning said that several players, including quarterback Matt Schaub, spoke in front of the team and that everyone is behind the quarterback.
“I just want to clear it up on Matt. We are riding behind him 100 percent,” Manning said. “Of course we were all pissed off about plays, everybody’s like that. DBs make mistakes, you want the whole team to be upset, even the player that made the mistake, you should say something. Matt has been a man about this whole time. He told us how he felt, what’s going to change, what needs to change.”
Manning also said safety Ed Reed and wide receiver Andre Johnson spoke to the team.
“It wasn’t a come to Jesus type of meeting, but I think it was the perfect time for it,” Manning said. “Everyone wants the best and I think we all got back together to where we needed to be.”
The Texans are off on Tuesday before starting the week of preparation for the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.
